The SHRM Exam Is Not a Memorization Test

Many candidates believe that success comes from:

  • Reading more textbooks.
  • Watching more videos.
  • Reviewing more flashcards.
  • Memorizing more definitions.

The speaker argues that this approach may work for some exams, but it does not work for the SHRM exam.

Unlike traditional exams, SHRM does not primarily test whether you remember isolated facts.

Instead, it evaluates your ability to:

  • Apply HR knowledge.
  • Analyze workplace situations.
  • Exercise professional judgment.
  • Make appropriate HR decisions.

The exam measures how well you think, not just how much you know.
